There is no magic number. To lose solidity you have to consume a lesser amount of calories than you expend and to maintain your bulk you must consume the same number of calories you expend. Finally, it's best to burn in the region of 500-1000 more calories than you consume (don't worry, beside a little exercise and strong, portioned meals, it's pretty smooth! don't forget your body is burning fat as we speak!)
